It’s an exciting week for comics and for Richmond, as the 2007 EISNER AWARDS nominations were just announced, and we had an amazing showing locally. I’d like to congratulate the following friends of Velocity for the following nominations:

1. FALLEN SON DEATH OF CAPTAIN AMERICA AVENGERS Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness explore the teams’ feelings about Cap eating at that great big mess hall in the sky. At ease, soldier…at ease.
2. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN HC Royalty and faeries in London in this new Vertigo HC by Mike Carey and John Bolton. Special cameo by Elton John (not really)!
3. KING CAT CLASSIX HC John Porcellino is regarded as one of the greats of the 90’s indy comic scene. This one collects some of his standout work for the first time.
4. MICROGRAPHICA GN Renee French does it again in this new HC from Top Shelf. Whimsical and disturbing all at once, French’s delicate art style makes the creepy that much more so.
5. TRUTH SERUM THE LONELY PARADE TP I love, love, love John Adams’ Truth Serum series. It’s funny, odd, insanely well drawn and beautfully designed. Hot off of two Eisner noms for the 1st collection, this second book should be bought by anyone who digs great comics.
